FIn Josh’s Words: I decided to combine this internship with my passion for swimming by organizing a swim clinic at my local athletic club. I was able to secure 3 swimming lanes with 4 time slots each, therefore creating a capacity for 12 private lessons. After creating a flyer advertising the event, I distributed it among friends and family, as well as at the athletic club. Eventually I was able to sign up 14 people, with two sets agreeing to share a lesson. The day of the event, I was nervous and I hoped everyone would show up as planned. All but 1 swimmer did, which I consider very successful. It was extremely inspiring to watch these people, whose ages ranged from 3 to 50, all there to support Friends of Orphans. Overall this was a very gratifying experience and in addition to raising money, I gained skills in planning, organizing, and communication.
